Disadvantages of soluble coffee

Truth be told, the image of instant coffee still suffers from ancient preparations made from Robusta. This variety was mainly used for its strong taste, as well as its high level of caffeine. Thus, the soluble coffee obtained was rather bitter and strong.

He would have filed the patent in 1881. This idea would have occurred to him during his time in the army to better preserve coffee. This invention was reportedly taken up and improved by Satori Kato, a Japanese student in Chicago, who was researching green tea powder. But the process would have come to fruition with Max Morgenthaler and Nestlé to be sold from the 1930s. This is why Nescafé is still the leader in soluble coffee today!

The first method of preparing a classic coffee:

– Pour 5 to 10 grams of soluble coffee in the bottom of a glass.

– Simmer about 25 cl of water. Depending on your taste, it’s up to you to adjust the amount of water you want to add.

– Pour the simmering water directly onto the powder or granules.

– Stir properly and wait a few moments before enjoying your drink.

The second method of preparing a classic coffee:

– Pour 5 to 10 grams of coffee in a glass.

– Add a few centiliters of cold water to dilute the soluble coffee. You will get a thick concentrate.

– Simmer some water and add it to the mixture to dilute it.

– Stir with a spoon to make sure the mixture is homogeneous, then enjoy after a few moments.

The third method to obtain a latte:

– Pour about 15 grams of soluble coffee in a glass.

– Simmer about 50 ml of water and heat an equivalent amount of milk.

– Once the liquids are at temperature, pour in the water first, then mix well before adding the milk.

– Add a touch of powdered chocolate for a more delicious result.


Today, most automatic machines in public places or businesses offer different types of soluble coffee, for a reasonable price. All are ready in an instant and offer different flavors depending on the preparations. It is thus possible to choose between espresso, filter type rendering, and many other drinks. Are there any good instant coffees?

The coffee concentrate is first frozen and then placed in a vacuum chamber; under the effect of vacuum and heat, the ice crystals are transformed directly into vapor without passing through the liquid state, leaving fine golden flakes with an appearance reminiscent of ground coffee.
